Try hold this singer (Christina Maida) back and you’ll risk the wrath of someone with a gale force personality. Quite surprising it is then to find out that Common Ground are in fact a New York six-piece as opposed to a singer songwriter with things to burn – bridges mostly. What results is a tune that is near a million miles from our normal fare but such is the lead performance and the subtle instrumental colouring around it it just makes for compulsive listening. KH
