The warm tones meant that from the off ‘Wasted on Sundays’ was a class apart. It has country undertones and there is such a natural flow and clear headed vocal delivery I couldn’t help but stand back and wonder how I’d missed this Austin duo to this point. The varying female/male leads bring their own individual bright-eyed momentum, so much that it reminded of Aimee Mann and Michael Penn’s classic take on ‘The Two of Us’. Really impressive from Beth // James, whose other track ‘Lion Eyes’ has appeared on the soundtrack to Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman. KH
