‘Country House’ proffers such precise folk it had me thinking of Nick Drake, and boy do those arrangements have a rich character about them. It’s never just a strum and hope for the best because Babbling April forge their own identity so richly. Add in similarly interesting vocal layering and you have a pastoral delight, sepia-tinged and set for endless repeats. Seems this Washington based act have found their groove. KH
