If life has felt incomplete since Weezer stopped doing Weezery things then John Lathrop and his Stan Laurels could be just for you. That’s because ‘Maybe’ really does appropriate the comic fire and brimstone of ‘Buddy Holly’ with rolling harmonies, choppy jangle and thunderous beats aplenty. Another fine mess might be the wrong way to describe it but I’m sure you get my drift. And there are more influences on ‘Maybe’ that go back even further and I’m thinking the Cars and their savvy brand of anthemic pop. For that and very much more this is Just What I (you, they) Needed.
