Dear Other – Check Yourself

This is so funky it could well have come from the 70’s peak of the genre, even the production has that sepia-tinged quality – almost out of focus but none of the moving parts are diminished as a result. There is so much to absorb beyond the cherubic vocals, even before Ohio 6-piece Dear Other suddenly decide it should become something loud and impressive from ‘Siamese Dream’. ‘Check Yourself’ could never be accused of standing still and thankfully every shift in momentum helps make it one of 2018’s most impressive tracks.
