You know we should take warmth wherever we can get it, even from a song that is of a tropical bent with a singer who appears to have travelled from a different time (who employs a 1973 drum machine called a Acetone Rhythm Ace). Namely when we were kids when happiness was ice-creams and radio stations full of flavoured timbres such as this. It is odd in many ways but it slipped past my semi-impenetrable indie walls with an ease that suggests a heart open to soft folky tones. Jethro Pickett’s second album ‘France’ is out now. KH
