Early doors ‘Last Year’ has the feel of a demo but the fog lifts quite unexpectedly and before long this Hamilton artist is sweeping us off our feet in that ‘Tiny Spark’ kind of Brendan Benson way. Things get overtly classic sounding come the chorus, with arrangements that are as intricate as they are warm. There was a time when I’d play a song to death owing to loving it so much and this is definitely in that category. An incredible debut release from Mr. Inkster, you can expect his new 7-track LP soon. KH
