You know we are all about the art of the jangle, a cul-de-sac indie offshoot that we’ve travelled down many a time and always find something new to salivate over. It’s not always about the destination you see and when you have practitioners of the svelte sleight of hand as Max Claps and Andrew Hoare (Veronica Falls) you know there are going to be plenty of jingles. And that’s what the pair (and several friends) have crafted on their debut album together as the Proper Ornaments. ‘Wooden Hand’ has 14 tracks with hardly a misstep, flush with cascading chords, honeyed harmonies and faint korg interference and a bunch of contenders for that great mixtape in the sky. For instance ‘Don’t You Want to Know (What You’re Going to Be)’ is only 2 minutes long but it will stay with you all day long. Welcome to audio slumberland. KD
