Although the central hook is one step shy of fantastically memorable the surrounding electro/vocal patter is gorgeous. And this from a Liverpool band that certainly lean on an 80’s template without ever descending into sticky pastiche like many of their contemporaries. The angles and contours on ‘Thanks God I Was Dreaming’ are effortlessly rounded, so much so that this could have come from the mind of a inspired Ernest Greene. Outfit’s debut LP ‘Performance’ hosts quite a few other cherubic efforts like this which bodes well for whatever comes next. Even as things stand it feels like heaven. KD
