Can’t believe the just released ‘Carrier’ is the Dodos 5th album, they seem mere infants in band years. If I’m honest I left soon after they arrived, failed to hear the hook in much of the stuff that followed their second LP ‘Visitor’ from 2008. Their music after at that point sounded like too much like the resultant candy coloured rewards were going to be minimal. ‘The Current’ from the new album suggests that something may be afoot though, a step back from extinction and a return to a sound that while not linear certainly has plenty of bright plumage. Whether it has the staying power remains to be seen but for Saturday morning audio it is a delightful flight of fancy. Welcome back boys. KD
