David Kilgour is indie royalty down New Zealand way, with 30 years in the music industry including fronting the Clean for whom clean jangling guitar lines were a forte. In 2011 he and his new band the Heavy Eights got away from it all and recorded an album called ‘Led By Soft’ without any of the frills and adornments normally associated with modern recordings. This loose and free wheelin’ approach meant that gems like ‘Steel Arrow’ sound like they shoot from the hip, like a conversation requiring no thought but with a lyrical quality of its own.
