This Waterford (previously Galway) based duo Low Sea just seem too good to be true. Here is a band that bolt so many influences into their armoury it could so easily destabilise and fall apart on the floor like the abandoned attire of a long since departed knight. In truth their craftiness means they are never less than a shining example of how to plunder the past while wiring plenty of contemporary twists. New album ‘Remote Viewing’ has picked up tons of generous plaudits and it’s easy to jump on the bandwagon when you hear them channel the Pop Shop Boys with any dreamy ethereal chanteuse you care to mention on ‘Last Rain’. Whether it will sound this edgy in 12 months’ time remains to be seen but for the moment Low Sea are riding the crest of a wave of their own making. KD
