A touch more Rollerskate Skinny than MBV this time, which is odd given how close both templates are. New Jersey post-shoegazers (who delved in the original shoegaze sound but operated beyond that scene’s epicentre) only recorded 2 LP’s (and a collection of their early material) but offered a good deal more than a replication of their influences. They’ve been long since abandoned though and can’t even count on a wiki page for a decent chronicling of their story. Such a shame because most of their output has a genuine melodic core amongst the apocalyptic remnants of a dozen pummelled instruments. ‘Exploded View’ is beautiful, a ragged display of jigsaw noise that makes sense once you allow it to breathe. It’s nice – reassuring – to read something about this band, nice one Kevin. They produced some excellent ‘soundscapes’ in their lifetime (I’m aware that sounds wanky as fuck, but I mean it in a fairly subtle and ironic way). Pedals pressed, fringes down! :)
I’ve used that word before myself Colin and always had to shower straight afterwords. Good to hear from you – glad you are back for good this time.
